crème de violette

agave syrup

1/2 oz.

lime juice

Even though we can’t make every day a Friday, sipping this cocktail will make you feel like it’s always Friday! This light and refreshing recipe highlights South American ingredients like silver tequila, agave syrup, and fresh squeezed lime juice. Add in a few blackberries along with a bit of Crème de Violette and you get what might be your spring go-to beverage!

While most of the ingredients in this cocktail originated in South American, Crème de Violette (which originated in Europe during the early 19th century) compliments the ingredients quite nicely.

A little note on Crème de Violette… This amazing liqueur is made from violet flowers which are steeped in brandy with added sugars. It’s flavor has a combination of floral and aromatic notes along with a delicate scent of violet on the nose. The texture is a bit creamy… But, as you can tell from the description, Crème de Violette contains zero cream. The “crème” name comes from the addition of sugar, which gives the liqueur a “cream-like” texture. This is truly an amazing addition to any home bar, and a great asset for spring and summer cocktail creations!

While you look out your window at the last remnants of winter’s grasp, take a sip on this and picture the warmer spring days that will be here before long.

How to Make:

  1. Place blackberries along with agave syrup into the base of your Boston Shaker and muddle thoroughly.
  2. Then add additional ingredients as well as ice
  3. Seal and shake until well chilled
  4. Double strain into a collins glass full of ice
  5. Top with club soda and give a quick stir
  6. Garnish with blackberries
